The planet Berchest is best known for its major city, Calius saj Leeloo, the City of Glowing Crystal of Berchest. This city has been a spectacular wonder since the earliest days of the Old Republic. The entire city is nothing more or less than a single gigantic crystal. The saline spray of the dark red-orange waters of the Leefari Sea created the crystal over the eons, while Berchestian artisans have painstakingly sculpted it and nurtured its slow growth, crafting buildings, walkways, and roads directly from the massive crystal. This planet and its crystal city were once a major tourist attraction, but the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire caused such business to slack off.
