Astromech Droid

Astromech droids specialize in starship maintenance and repair. Some models also assist with piloting and navigation.

Astromech droids use a direct interface with starship computers to monitor and diagnose flight performance. They initiate repairs when necessary and augment navigational, astrogational, and piloting capacity. The popular R2, R5 and R7 units, designed by Industrial Automaton, have extensive sensor packages and a wide variety of tools that assist its jack-of- all-trades programming.
