Ejection seat
Small transport vehicles and most starfighters use ejection seats as
a means of emergency escape. An ejection seat is jettisoned from a disabled
ship, propelling the passenger away from dangers such as explosions or
ship breakup. An ejection seat relies on the passenger using a full environment
suit, and survival depends on a quick rescue. This escape system works
best within a planet's atmosphere, where antigrav units can safely lower
the seat to the ground. Most seats contain a twenty-four-hour oxygen recirculator
and heating element that connects to a passenger's environment suit.
