Lekku

The proper name for a Twi'lek's "head-tails." Each lek has its own technical name: the right is called 'tchin' and the left is called 'tchun'. Most Twi'leks have two lekku, though in rare cases, like the politician Orn Free Taa, they can be born with four.

Twi'leks use their lekku for communication in addition to their spoken language, Ryl. Should anything happen to a Twi'lek's lekku, he or she would be severely handicapped when speaking with another member of the species.
