New Cov

The planet New Cov is the third world in the Churba star system. It has no indigenous intelligent life, but its vast jungles teem with abundant natural resources. Eight walled cities, including the city of Ilic, have been built on New Cov by the New Cov Biomolecule Company to serve as work colonies. The sentient plants of the world are a great source of biomolecules--an important manufacturing component that cannot be synthesized. These biomolecules are used to create medicines and in partially organic industrial processes.

The Covies harvest the biomolecules, process them, and then prepare them for shipment to heavy industry planets. Of course, the dangerous plants eat as many harvesters as they can, and the armored city walls are designed to keep out plants and their spores.
