Assault frigate

When the Rebels needed capital ships to fill the ranks of their growing fleet, they designed the assault frigate. Using the body of the Old Republic Dreadnaught, Alliance engineers modified the vessel to create a combat starship. By stripping away huge parts of the superstructure in order to lower fuel consumption and raise engine capacity, and by adding two dorsal solar fins, the techs made the vessel faster and more maneuverable. To meet the demands of limited crew complements, being-operated work stations were retooled to allow for droid- and computer-controlled stations. Once all of the modifications were completed, the barest hint of the original structure remained. Assault frigates have no docking bays. However, twenty umbilical docking tubes are scattered abou the hull to accommodate transports, light freighters, and starfighters.
