Gravity Well Projector

Gravity well projectors are connected to massive gravity well generators on ships such as the Interdictor-class cruisers. The projectors emit waves of energy that disrupt the mass lines of realspace, simulating the presence of a true stellar body. This displacement of mass lines serves two purposes. First, ships within the sphere of influence of a gravity well cannot engage their hyperdrives. Second, ships that come in contact with the resulting gravity shadow while traveling through hyperspace must drop back into realspace when their hyperdrive cutoffs kick in. These projectors are used most commonly by pirates waiting to ambush unsuspecting crafts traveling through hyperspace, although they are becoming more and more popular in military applications.
