Expansion region

The Expansion Region, once a center of manufacturing and heavy industry, started as an experiment in corporate-controlled space. When the residents demanded more freedom and change, the Old Republic turned control over to freely elected governments and sent the corprorations elsewhere. (Years later, the Empire allowed for the creation of a Corporate Sector.) As much of the area's natural resources have been greatly diminished, the Expansion Region seeks to pull itself out of an economic slump by maintaining trade routes and portraying itself as an alternative to the crowded and expensive Core Worlds and Colonies regions.
