Star Galleon

The 300 meter long Imperial Star Galleon is designed to combine the cargo space of a bulk freighter with the armament of a combat starship. With ten turbolaser batteries and concussion missiles, the Star Galleon can carry cargo and defend itself, thus eliminating the need to have seperate freighters and escort craft. The interior is designed to hamper boarding parties, with fortresslike emplacements in the corridors, force fields, heavy blast doors, and a complement of three hundred troops. The cargo hold pod, located in the very center of the ship, has an added level of protection: it can be jettisoned from the vessel when its computers automatically activate a small hyperdrive and send it on a prearranged lightspeed jump.
