Several popular models of patrol craft operate within star systems as the first line of defense against pirates, smugglers, and hostile alien forces. Because of their mission profile, system patrol craft usually have powerful sublight engines but no hyperdrives. They also perform custom inspection duties and watch for disable ships that require assistance.
